May 1, 2026, according to an announcement from the leadership at Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center, the organization has assumed operations of the former York County Family Shelter.
Although details are unclear at this time, we have included the announcement from the organization below. In addition please note, a comment posted publicly by Executive Director Vassie Folwer states the shelter is located in Sanford.
"The Board of Directors of Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center, together with our Executive Director and dedicated staff, are thrilled to share that Seeds of Hope has assumed operations of the former York County Family Shelter.
This marks an important step in our ongoing commitment to support families in York County who are experiencing housing instability.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the York County Shelter Programs (YCSP) for the many years they faithfully operated the family shelter.
Their leadership, staff, and volunteers have provided safety, stability, and hope to countless families.
The impact of their work is deeply felt throughout our community, and we honor the foundation they built.
As Seeds of Hope takes on this responsibility, we do so with gratitude for the trust placed in us and with a strong sense of purpose.
Our staff have worked diligently to prepare for this transition, ensuring that services will continue with the compassion, dignity, and respect that families deserve.
