📰BIDDEFORD | 2 Rescued off Timber Point | Ocean Water Rescue

August 13, 2026, According to Biddeford Fire Chief Larry Best, "this evening at approximately 8:52pm, the Biddeford Regional Communications Center received a 911 call from two people stuck on a rock near Timber Point and Timber Island. They said they have been cut off from shore by the rising tide and cannot make it back in safely.

An ocean rescue box assignment was dispatched with Biddeford Car 7, Car 3, Special Hazards 34, and EMS 10; Arundel Ambulance 40; Saco Marine 5; and Kennebunkport Engine 33. Biddeford Car 7 arrived at the area of Timber Point first at 9:07pm. Contact was made with the two people at 9:22pm.

Neither person were injured or in need of medical attention. Saco Marine 5 arrived 15 minutes later and were able to reach the two people with a small inflatable boat that was launched from Marine 5. Both people were brought out to Marine 5 and then taken to shore on the Kennebunkport side of ocean channel.

All the Biddeford Fire and EMS units were tied-up with 4 other EMS incidents at the time the ocean rescue 911 call was received.

Since 8:00am this morning, the Biddeford Fire Department has responded to 22 emergency calls.

Year to date the Biddeford Fire Department has responded to 3,359 emergency incidents."
