📰JUST IN! | APPLICATION WITHDRAWN | Director of Planning and Economic Development

October 22, 2025, According to reports from Biddeford City Hall, Denise Clavette has formally withdrawn her application to be Biddeford’s next Director of Planning and Economic Development.

Denise was intially scheduled to be confirmed pending a vote from City Council that was to occur yesterday (10/21/25).

However, at the beginning of yesterday's council meeting, it was unexpectedly announced that agenda item 10b "was struck" from the agenda (10b was the agenda item pertaining to the Economic Director confirmation.)

No reason has been cited for the withdrawal at this time. Clavette currently serves as the economic development director for the Town of Gray, Maine and has been serving in this role for 11 months.

According to City Manager Truc Dever, City staff will rengage the process of filling the vacancy for the position.
