This past Friday, September 26, The Biddeford Tigers Varsity Football Team hit the road and journeyed to Skowhegan Maine to face-off against the Skowhegan River Hawks. Biddeford won the game with a final score of 29-15.


The first quarter closed out with a score of 0 to 0.


During the second quarter, Quarterback #15 Ernie Dore completed a short pass to Wide Receiver #4 Julius Searles, who proceeded to break multiple tackles resulting in a 79 yard TD scoring Biddeford’s first points of the game. Kicker #6 Achile Tcholuka then successfully kicked the extra point. The second quarter concluded with a score of 7 to 7.


In the third quarter, the first of three sacks from Biddeford’s defense came from Defensive End #4 Julius Searles. Searles tackled the Skowhegan Quarterback to the ground in the end zone resulting in a 2 point safety for the Tigers. Several plays later, Biddeford’s QB #15 Ernie Dore rushed, scoring the team’s second TD; the ol’ QB keeper. Tcholuka then successfully kicked the extra point.

Closing out the third quarter, Wide Receiver and Running Back #3 Riley Lawless scored a TD with Tcholuka once again successfully kicking the extra point. The third quarter finished with a score of 16-7.


Through the fourth quarter the Tiger’s defense continued to dominate. Coming up big with sacks in the fourth were both Linebacker #10 Jackson Dore and Defensive Back #13 Alex Gosselin. Biddeford's final points scored of the game were by Freshman Running Back #20 Trey Coleman. Colman caught and returned a kickoff running the ball for 75 yards scoring a TD. The game concluded with a final score of 29-15.


Following the game, we asked a few of the players ā€œhow they felt about the gameā€ and here is what they had to say: #4 Julius Searles said, ā€œI feel like we showed what we’re capable of defensively and offensively… we dominated the game from the start and I couldn’t be any more proud of my teammates.ā€Ā 


#15 Ernie Dore shared, ā€œā€¦I feel great about next week’s game… I think last night's win will give us great momentum going into next week.ā€Ā

#20 Trey Coleman stated that last night’s game was ā€œstrikingly different from our prior games... I believe that the energy we brought was a big factor in getting our first win… I am already getting excited for next week's game.ā€


In conclusion, the Tigers went, they saw, and the conquered. After a long day on the field and on the road traveling back from Skowhegan, the team finished off the night ringing the ol’ bell atĀ Biddeford High SchoolĀ while surrounded by a large group of proud parents and fans!


This week is HOMECOMING and this team is hungry. The next game (HOMECOMING) is October 3rd VS Falmouth with kickoff @ 6:00 PM. The game is a HOME GAME and will be held at Waterhouse Field - show up and support our boys!
