BIDDEFORD | With a full crowd of fans at Waterhouse Field and the lights shining bright on the turf, this past Friday Night the Varsity Biddeford Tigers Football Team took the field for what ended up being an impressive display of grit and determination.Ā

Facing off against Marshwood, the first half finished with the scoreboard showing 39-7 with Biddeford down by 32 points; safe to say, it wasn’t looking good folks.

The Tigers could have easily chosen to have hung their heads at the half, but instead they decided to send a message loud and clear; WE DON'T GIVE UP AND WE’ll PLAY TILL THE CLOCK RUNS OUT. The final score of the game was 48-28 with Marshwood winning and the Tigers battling till the last second.

In the first quarter, Tigers star Running Back #2 Kelly O’Guinn suffered a shoulder injury. With 6 seconds left on the clock, Wide Receiver #6 Achile Tcholuka scored a touchdown for Biddeford to get on the board. Tcholuka then successfully kicked the extra point.

During the 2nd quarter, Quarterback #15 Ernie Dore threw a 23 yard pass to Wide Receiver #4 Julius Searles for the Tigers second TD.Ā  Kicker #6 Tcholuka then successfully kicked the extra point.

Unfortunate but notable, the Tigers saw several injuries during this game. Kicker, Defensive End, and Right Tackle #55 Zander Huot, was taken out of the game with a possible separated shoulder. In addition, two other players, #52 Connor Coloumbe and #44 Brayden Hall, suffered injuries. All three players (#55, #52, and #44) play on both offense and defense making the injuries all that more detrimental to the team’s success.

The 3rd quarter brought a bit of a change up. Following Wide Receiver #4 Julius Searles setting up a 1st and 10, Tigers Coach Allosso brought on the second string to finish out the game.Ā

According to several parents present, a freshman named Stanley Richardson not only ā€œrallied the teamā€, but also put two more TDs on the board with Tcholuka successfully kicking both extra points.

In conclusion, when faced with adversity and despite multiple injuries, the Tigers chose to work hard, rally, keep their heads up, and put more points on the board closing the gap between them and Marshwood. With a final score of 48-28 the Tigers second regular season game came to an end. The experience gained during the second half of this game will be greatly beneficial later in the season - stay tuned!

The next game is scheduled for September 18th at 6:00 PM and will take place at Westbrook High School. SHOW UP AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!
