June 30, 2026, Holy smokes folks, huge announcement.
As this community demonstrates time and time again, when we come together, we achieve great things.
With that being said, honored, ecstatic, humbled, and delighted to inform everyone of two recent milestones we, the community, have achieved through the Biddeford Buzz.
First, the Biddeford Buzz has been accepted as a member of the Society of Professional Journalists; The nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and upholding high ethical standards. Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ champions journalists by recognizing outstanding achievement, protecting press freedom, promoting ethics, and preparing new generations of professionals.
Notably, The Biddeford Buzz utilizes the ethical standards put forth by the SPJ.
In addition, contributing writer and founding member of the Biddeford Buzz, Joshua Wolfe, has been accepted as a member of the Maine Press Association (MPA). The MPA, founded in 1864, is one of the oldest professional news organizations in the United States and actively defends freedom of speech, the public’s right to know, and the preservation of public notices in state and local newspapers. By providing resources to journalists, advocacy, and community-building, while hosting annual industry awards and scholarships, the MPA continues to support journalism in Maine.
Being accepted to either of the aforementioned organizations is an honor in itself, however, more importantly, it reinforces the mission set forth by Biddeford Buzz; New for YOU, by YOU - AKA Sharing YOUR stories and amplifying YOUR voice.
As one reader put it, the Biddeford Buzz is becoming “the single largest news source in Maine's youngest and fastest growing city.”
Quite simply, Thank YOU. This is a win for all of us.
We cannot thank everyone enough for their continued support - Our followers, readers, subscribers, contributing writers, photographers, local leaders, business owners, city staff, coaches, parents, non-profits, and all others that have helped keep the community informed - this is a team effort and you folks are the true MVPs. 🙌
