“No one should ever raise their hand and say I want to help this community, and [then] be ignored”

October 8, 2025, As a current candidate running for local office, it’s not an easy thing to voice frustration or discontent to a group of individuals that you may soon be joining, and or could choose whether or not to endorse you during your campaign. With that being said, Ward 7 Candidate Sam Pecor was willing to take a risk to do what he felt was right.

At last night’s city council meeting, Sam Pecor, one of two Candidates running to represent Ward 7, sternly addressed City leaders expressing his (and others) concerns with their alleged lack of response to members of the community “who are raising their hand volunteering their time and expertise”.

While addressing the Council, Sam referenced both his personal interactions and feedback he has received from others. In an effort to stay informed and best serve his community, Candidate Pecor has been attending City Council Meetings for the past three months, has hosted a “Candidate Open Porch Series” every Wed. Since Aug 27th, and has also gone door to door in his free time to connect with local residents.

Pecor made his point clear early on in his remarks stating, “I’ve been made to believe that a lot of members of our community have not been having their voices heard”.

He went on to say “we have a tremendous amount of members in our community who are raising their hand volunteering
and from what I have been hearing, they’re commonly being stonewalled or not even recognized
Our community works by having members engage. We can't do it all at the staff level or at the council level. We need community involvement.”

During both his presentation and following the meeting, Sam alleged City leaders of not responding to phone calls and emails from constituents. Pecor went as far as to describe the behavior as flippantly “blowing off” Biddeford residents.

See Sam’s full remarks below.
