May 4, 2026, Heart of Biddeford is pleased to announce the hiring of Larry Weyand as Program Director of Art of Biddeford (AOB), marking an exciting new chapter for the city’s creative community.
A practicing artist with experience in arts administration, governance, and leadership, Weyand brings a strong commitment to supporting artists and building thriving creative ecosystems. In their new role, they will guide exhibitions, events, partnerships, and artist opportunities while advancing AOB’s mission as an initiative built by artists, for artists.
“Even in the short time I’ve been here, meeting people, every conversation points to how excited they are that Heart of Biddeford is prioritizing a role focused on the arts,” said Weyand. “Not a lot of cities or Main Street programs are doing that. In this economic and political climate, it’s an honor to step into this position and help build something that brings people together.”
“Biddeford has seen incredible growth in recent years—from long-standing institutions like Reilly’s Bakery and Pizza by Alex continuing to evolve, to businesses like Banded Brewing Co., Suger, and Elements expanding their locations and manufacturing, and newer additions like Rift Arcade and Gutter Bar bringing fresh energy,” said Delilah Poupore, Executive Director of Heart of Biddeford. “But through it all, the arts have been the throughline. When we took the helm of Art of Biddeford, we knew we needed dedicated arts leadership—and we’re fortunate Larry is joining us at this moment.”

Art of Biddeford builds on years of artist-led momentum that has helped transform downtown into a vibrant destination, including leadership by Engine for a decade. As a program of Heart of Biddeford, AOB integrates arts into everyday life -- activating storefronts, mills, and public spaces through exhibitions, performances, and artist opportunities.
Weyand’s leadership will strengthen pathways for artists to grow sustainable careers while enhancing the cultural experiences that draw people downtown.
