đź“°BIDDEFORD | Council Waives Small Fee for Biddeford Community Recovery Center Event

August 19, 2026, At last night's City Council meeting, individuals representing the Biddeford Community Recovery Center (BCRC), spoke before Mayor LaFountain and the Biddeford City Council, sharing both the purpose and vision of a community recovery center located in Biddeford, as well as to request an "event fee waiver" for their organization's ulcoming "2nd Annual Recovery Revival of York County (RR)" event.
The revival event, scheduled to take place on September 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Mechanics Park, is described as "a community celebration of growth, healing, and connection", and features keynote speakers, family games, free food, vendors, with all funds raised going towards a community recovery center being established in Biddeford.
“Recovery Revival is an opportunity for the recovery community to reach out to the non-recovery community… those in recovery have been supported by friends & family and have often been a burden on the world around them... The revival is an opportunity for them to give back to the community - and they do have something to give", expressed BCRC Founder & President Chet Adams when requesting the event fee waiver for the use of Mechanics Park to host the event.
Adams went on to explain to city leaders, "I want to build a recovery center here, and that's what this is all about… we have a dedicated bunch of folks who have been helping to make that dream come true... I want a community recovery center that is as inviting to people in recovery as it is to people not in recovery - whether you are in recovery or not, we want you to come to the community center so you can get to know us.
Following hearing from Adams, City Councilors voted unanimously in favor of granting the event fee waiver, waving the $100 fee for the BCRC to host their upcoming community event at Mechanics park, free of charge.
