A message from the City of Biddeford Government:

The pocket park at the corner of Main Street and Elm Street has a new public art piece! This colorful mural was created by students from Biddeford High School’s Alternative Pathways Center’s Community Stewardship class.
In collaboration with Biddeford Community Gardens and the City of Biddeford, and in support of the National Wildlife Federation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge, the students researched and thoughtfully planned this public art mural to educate and inform the public about the importance of our pollinators.
The details in the piece illustrate the monarch’s life cycle, as well as two of its fellow pollinating insects – bee and moth, which are vital to the health and well-being of humans and the planet.

If the mural inspires you to take action to protect pollinators, try:
Providing habitat by planting native and pollinator-friendly plants
Avoiding pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides in lawn-care
Leaving the leaves on your lawn in the fall to provide shelter that helps pollinators survive the colder months
