When speaking with Bev about the project she emphasized the importance of making educated decisions when selecting which plants would be best for the space.

Thorpe explained to us how oftentimes folks choose to purchase plants from nurseries rather than utilize native species which can have adverse effects on local ecosystems.

In addition, Thorpe specifically pointed to the power of understanding that although often times plants purchased from nurseries perform more predictably which can be more favorable for consumers, it's not always the best option for the overall health of nature in the area.

The plants were purchased by the Sustainability Commission with the actual planting being done by volunteers.
