📰BIDDEFORD | 60K Approved for JFK School

October 21, 2025, Tonight, the Biddeford City Council voted to approve funds in the amount of up to $60,000 to "insure and maintain" the John F. Kennedy School property through the remainder of fiscal year 2026.

The JFK School, located at 64 West Street, closed back in June 2025 after being open for 60 years. Once closed, students were transitioned to the Biddeford Primary School.

Although a vote of approval for the funds, Councilor At-Large Marc Lessard (and current council candidate) said the $60,000 amount will "allow us to keep the lights on... it won't be enough to fix anything, but will keep it maintained as is".

The JFK School has been a "hot button" issue throughout the current election cycle.
