This new Maine Turnpike interchange will open to travelers in November and is the first new exit on the Maine Turnpike in more than 20 years.

The $42 million MTA project arose from a 2019 transportation study by the Maine Turnpike Authority, Maine Department of Transportation, and the City of Saco to address regional traffic issues by improving connections to and from the Turnpike. Exit 35 will provide easier Turnpike access to westerly traffic, reduce peak travel congestion along Route 112 and Industrial Park Road in Saco, and reduce traffic at Exit 36 in Saco.

The interchange provides on and off ramps on both sides of the Turnpike, new northbound and southbound toll plazas with signalized intersections on Route 112, and the addition of turn lanes, crosswalks, and improved lighting along Route 112. The Route 112 bridge over the Turnpike also received joint replacements, transition barrier upgrades, and concrete repair. According to Maine Turnpike, this project will improve pedestrian safety along Route 112 and will reduce traffic or improve its flow at several high crash locations in the area.
