November 5, 2026, At tonight's City Council Meeting Biddeford City councilors voted Unanimously approving and officially hiring Laurie Smith as Biddeford's newest City Manager.

Laurie Smith accepts her new contract as City Manager for the City of Biddeford

Smith's contract goes into effect on December 29, 2026.

Mayor Liam LaFountain congratulated Smith on her new contract and when asked if she had any remarks to offer, Smith expressed she was excited for the new role and is "confident that we will make good strides together".

According the contract from the City of Biddeford, Smith will receive:

-215k/Year

-24 Paid Vacation Days

-Health Insurance

-Life Insurance

-$600/month Vehicle Allowance.
