September 9, 2026, This morning we've received multiple reports regarding an incident that took place yesterday at the Biddeford High School.
For those who are unaware, different then many surrounding towns, in the City of Biddeford, 8th graders attend school with the 9th-12th graders at the Biddeford High School. Because of this, following the conclusion of each school day, a school bus picks up the 8th grade athletes and shuttles them to the middle school for them to practice with their middle school peers, on their respective middle school sports teams.
Yesterday concluding the school day, athletes from the 8th grade football, soccer, field hockey, and potentially a few marching band students, began to board the aforementioned bus to be shuttled to their afternoon practices - this is where the "incident" allegedly began.
Allegedly, during the boarding process arguments broke out between several students resulting in some students preventing other students from boarding the bus.
Allegedly the situation escalated where students became physical pushing one another. At this time the bus driver instructed all students to exit the bus.
Allegedly once all of the students exited the bus per the drivers instructions, the bus driver then left the students at the high school, and then completed their evening route returning the bus back to "base" - the students were left at the high school to seek alternate transportation on their own.
A few things to note: It was expressed to us that this "evening sports route" has had reoccurring issues for years and that it is not the most "sought out" route by drivers.
Also important to note, several of the parents have reached out to the transportation leadership, school department and Superintendent Ray, and are still awaiting a response.
