"I am proud of my record serving our community. I have fought to make housing more available and affordable, for access to health care and child care, for workers, for civil rights, and for the freedom to vote in free and fair elections." - Representative Marc Malon
February 13, 2026, Earlier this evening we shared that At-Large Biddeford City Councilor Marc Lessard is considering challenging Representative Marc Malon (Democrat) to represent District 133 in the Maine House of Representatives.

After sharing the announcement from Councilor Lessard, we recieved the following statement from Representative Malon:
"Serving in the Maine House of Representatives is an immense honor, one which comes with immense responsibility. Nobody is owed elected office, and voters have a right to expect clear choices when they look at their ballots. I welcome anyone who wishes to serve their community and respect their desire to do so, even if they are running against me.
I will put together a robust campaign and will listen, as I always have, to what members of my community have to say. I will be as responsive as I can be, and transparent about the work I am doing on their behalf. We might not always agree (nobody does), but I will listen to all points of view and explain the rationale behind my actions and the votes I take. My constituents deserve nothing less.
I am proud of my record serving our community. I have fought to make housing more available and affordable, for access to health care and child care, for workers, for civil rights, and for the freedom to vote in free and fair elections. I know how the Legislature works, and know what to do and who to talk to in order to effectively deliver for the people of Biddeford.
This experience matters, because there is always more work to do to make our community more affordable for all residents, whether it’s fighting to control energy costs or fighting to make sure Biddeford gets its fair share of school funding.
Biddeford, Maine, and our country are in a unique and precarious point in our history. To meet this moment, we need strategic, practical leaders who have the spine to stand up and fight for our community and its values. This is the type of leadership I bring to the table, and I look forward to earning the trust of my community again this November."
*Representative Malon is Democrat and is hoping to be reelected to serve a third term in District 133.
*The upcoming election will be held in November 2026 - we will update this story as information is provided.
