April 8, 2026, Earlier today we shared comments made by Ward 7 Councilor Brad Cote pertaining to rising taxes and resident's participating in city council meetings.

Since sharing Councilor Cote's earlier comments, he has publicly issued the following apology:
"I would like to apologize for my earlier comment regarding getting people to attend meetings and get involved. I was frustrated that I spend a bunch of time working on different City issues and what I read online on a dailv basis is overwhelming negative. I need to develop a thicker skin and not be as responsive as I have been in the past. My apologies if anyone was offended...that was not my intent Please feel free to email or call with any issues, questions or comments." - Biddeford Ward 7 Councilor, Brad Cote
Councilor Cotes original comments are below:
"For all of the complaints I hear about high taxes, only 2 people ever commented on it. The Library did a great job rallying their supporters to come out and speak. I held the door open for a library supporter using a walker
For all the complaints about taxes barely anyone actually showed up to make that argument. If you aren't willing to get up from your keyboard/mobile device to show up or participate in the process, you may not be pleased with the results." - Biddeford Ward 7 City Councilor, Brad Cote
