📰 BIDDEFORD | FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE RECAP

This past Saturday, September 27th, The Biddeford Fire Department hosted its first community open house since 2018 at the Biddeford Fire Station, and boy did the community come out! With over an estimated 600+ attendees, the day was a huge success.

The goal of the event was to provide a fun-filled and educational day for Biddeford residents.The family-friendly event also provided a great opportunity for residents to meet their local first responders, explore safety demonstrations, and enjoy hands-on activities for all.

When asked about the turnout of the event, Chief Best replied, “we had a tremendous turnout today… we had a few 100 people come through… The event was very well attended… a lot of good feedback and a lot of happy kids… a lot of smiles.”

Attendees were able to view and participate in Model Structure Fires, Vehicle Extrication, CPR & “Stop the Bleed”, Fire Extinguisher Training, Build Your Own First Aid Kit, Second Floor Window Escape Drills, Guided Museum Tours, Gear Try-On Station, Fire Safety Smoke House, Bicycle Helmet Fittings and so much more.

If the amazing activities and personnel weren't enough, Linda's Hotdogs was on-site with the grub!

Following the event, Chief Best issued a public “thank you” to Firefighter/Paramedic Jason Crocker who spearheaded the event. The Chief went on to say “this event would not have been possible if it were not for all the two-dozen off-duty BFD members, retirees and families that volunteered their time to help out along with the on-duty shift between calls”.
