July 28, 2026, At the beginning of tonight's City Council meeting, Ward 5 Councilor David Kurtz addressed the Mayor, fellow councilors, and meeting attendees to apologize for "profanity" he used while speaking during a special city council meeting on July 21, 2026.
The "special city council meeting" was held in direct response to the ICE involved shooting Death of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.
During the July 21st meeting, Kurtz remarked, "If you don't think the Jews are talking about this [the shooting death of Guerrero], then you're fucking crazy".

While apologizing Kurtz stated, “It [using profanity] was entirely my fault, I apologize…. If I slip up again, I would fully expect at nothing less, to be reprimanded, or worse".
Please note, no reference or clarification was made during the apology pertaining to Kurtz's earlier mention of the jewish community.
