📰BIDDEFORD | City Council Candidate Politely Passes on Mayor's Endorsment

"With all due respect to the mayor, I never asked for this endorsement. I don't think mayoral candidates should be endorsing council candidates. I'm running on my own merits and positions concerning the issues facing our city."

October 25, 2025, approximately one hour after several media outlets shared that Mayor Martin Grohman endorsed several candidates for the local city council race, one candidate took to social media to issue their statement regarding the matter.

Dylan Doughty

Current Ward 4 Councilor and 2025 Council Candidate Dylan Doughty, commented on a public community facebook group post referencing the Mayor's endorsement stating, "With all due respect to the mayor, I never asked for this endorsement. I don't think mayoral candidates should be endorsing council candidates. I'm running on my own merits and positions concerning the issues facing our city."

As of now, only 1 of the 5 candidates publicly endorsed by Martin Grohman has made a statement that clearly separates their race, from the endorsement of the Mayor.

Will any of the other candidates who have recieved endorsements from the Mayor take a similar position?
