January 11, 2026, on November 15, 2025 the Biddeford + Saco Chamber of Commerce + Industry hired Alex MacPhail, a resident of Saco, to be their new executive director (ED)... and in case you're new here.. Alex is known in the Biddeford Saco area and has been active in the community for years with deep local connections across the business sector.

MacPhailâs first âofficial dayâ as the new ED was November 17, 2025⊠so naturally, we reached out to him the following day (11/18/25) for an interview.. and like the awesome guy that Alex is, he responded immediately - THANK YOU ALEX!
In his role as executive director, Alex is responsible for member engagement, community partnerships, events, marketing, administrative coordination, and the day-to-day operations of the organization.
With that being said, Meet the "New Guy"; Alex MacPhail
1. Tell us a bit about yourself (hobbies, work experience, anything random or fun you want to share!)Â
âI was blessed to work previously with the Chamber back around 2018 and it is a great return to the office. Many in the area know me as the volunteer Voice of Saco Main Street emceeing for many of the Festivals and events, including this year's 2025 Festival of Lights Parade coming up Dec 13. I have previously hosted River Jam and also play guitar locally at various venues.â
2. What are you most excited about in your new position as Chamber Executive Director?
âConnecting with the community and the organizations involved. Learning about various resources and bringing that energy and passion that I have to the Chamber is very exciting.â
3. What is your biggest goal in your new position?Â
âTo provide solid representation, education, leadership and support for our greater business community!â
4. If someone wants to join the chamber, what is the best way to achieve that?Â
âGive us a call at 207-282-1567 or stop in. Our office hours down here on Water Street are 9 to 4 daily!â
5. What resources does the chamber currently offer for it's members?Â
âI have included a sheet which may make it easier to visualize.â
6. What advice do you have for someone looking to start a business in the Biddeford Saco community?Â
âEducate yourself. Many new businesses don't take into account many factors such as impact fees, codes, permitting, etc, or even grant opportunities for signage and more. The Chamber, along with downtown organizations and planning departments can help guide potential businesses through the process.â
7. Anything else you wish to add or for us to include?Â
âI am greatly appreciative of local outlets such as The Buzz keeping Biddeford/Saco informed and educated to the goings on around the area. As is said by the Washington Post: Democracy Dies in Darkness!â
We want to again congratulate Alex on his new role and thank him for taking the time to speak with us, cheers!
