May 20, 2026, At the June 9, 2026 Election, voters who are registered to the Democratic Party or Republican Party will participate in their party's Primary Election for U.S. Senator, Representative to Congress, Governor, State Senator, State Representative, County Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Sheriff, District Attorney, and County Commissioner. If you are a registered voter but are unenrolled, you can choose to vote in any ONE party's primary of your preference. Voters who are registered to a party that is not running candidates are not eligible to vote in this Primary Election.

On the local ballot, voters will be asked if they favor approving the budget for the upcoming school year and will select candidates for the Charter Revision Commission.


Absentee voters must request an absentee ballot by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 unless special circumstances exist. Requests can be made by phone at 207-571-1662, by printing and mailing the request form on our website, or in the City Clerk's Office at City Hall during normal business hours. They may also be made online through the State of Maine’s Online Absentee Ballot Request Service.


Absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. A secure drop box for absentee ballots is located next to the back stairs of City Hall on the South Street side of the building. The City Clerk's office will be open until 5:00 p.m. on Election Day to collect ballots. Between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., ballots must be returned to the secure drop box. Please do not bring ballots to the polls.


The City Clerk’s office will be open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2025 for voter registration activities only. The Clerk's Office can only be accessed from the Main Street entrance to City Hall during this time.
