January 26, 2026, Below is a statement released today by Heart of Biddeford executive director Delilah Poupore regarding recent Immigrationand Customs Enforcement activity in Biddeford, please see below:

"At Heart of Biddeford, we believe a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable downtown is one where everyone belongs.

Recent increases in federal immigration enforcement in Maine and in Biddeford are affecting people in our community. We have seen that the significant show of force is often not clearly grounded in standard law enforcement practices and that's affecting families, workers, business owners, and neighbors.

We can respond by showing up for one another. For clear information about rights, resources, and ways to support or volunteer, we encourage you to visit the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition.

We have also shared information for employers about their rights and responsibilities at this link.

Many organizations and individuals in Biddeford are committed to keeping our city welcoming and connected. We invite you to stand in solidarity with your neighbors—guided by facts, compassion, and shared responsibility.

Like all nonprofits, Heart of Biddeford is required to be nonpartisan. Our role is not to support or oppose any political party or candidate, but to care for our community, and we invite you to join us." - Delilah Poupore, Executive Director, Heart of Biddeford
