February 3, 2026, At tonight's city council meeting, councilors voted to retroactively approve a controversial pilot parking program that has recently found itself at the center of local discussions.

The Pilot Program was initiated under previous Mayor Martin Grohman's leadership during the "nightmare on Elm street" construction saga with the intent to provide a parking solution for downtown business owners and their employees.
The review of the program was triggered when City Manager Truc Dever asked newly elected Mayor Liam Lafountain about the program, who then informed Dever he was unaware of said program.
During the discussion, several councilors expressed concern and frustration with how the parking program was implemented by the previous mayor.
Concluding the discussion, the council voted in favor to retroactively approve the funding in an effort to alleviate any potential concerns with future financial audits.
The program has been discontinued.
